Welcome to ShelfWorlds. These terms govern your use of shelfworlds.com and your purchases from our store. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them. They're written to be readable, because terms nobody understands protect nobody.
1. Who we are
ShelfWorlds sells DIY book nook kits and related items to customers in the United States. The store is operated by Christopher Jan Benitez, doing business as ShelfWorlds. Contact: hello@shelfworlds.com.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to place an order. Our kits are intended for builders aged 14 and up; they contain small parts and are not suitable for young children.
3. Products, descriptions, and our ratings
We work hard to describe every kit accurately, including what's in the box and what isn't (batteries and glue usually aren't). Two things to understand about our editorial content:
- Difficulty ratings and build times are our honest estimates, based on piece counts, maker information, and buyer reviews. They're opinions offered in good faith, not guarantees of your experience.
- Product photos may show assembled kits. Every kit ships unassembled. Building it is the point.
Colors may vary slightly from photos due to screens and production batches. If a listing contains an obvious error (a wrong price, a wrong photo), we may cancel affected orders and refund you in full.
4. Orders and payment
An order is accepted when we send your confirmation email. We may cancel or refuse an order for reasons including suspected fraud, pricing errors, or stock problems at our suppliers; if we cancel, you get a full refund and an honest explanation. Prices are in US dollars. Payment is processed by our payment providers; we never see or store your full card details.
5. Shipping
Shipping terms, delivery windows, and costs are set out in our Shipping policy, which forms part of these terms. Delivery estimates are estimates; carriers and customs occasionally have other plans, and we'll help chase any order that's gone quiet.
6. Returns and replacements
Our Returns and replacements policy forms part of these terms. The short version: missing or broken pieces get replaced free; unopened kits can be returned within 30 days; opened kits can't be returned.
7. Your account and conduct
If you create an account or leave reviews, keep your information accurate and don't post anything unlawful, deceptive, or abusive. Reviews must reflect your genuine experience. We may remove content or close accounts that break these rules.
8. Intellectual property
The content we create belongs to us: our guides, reviews, difficulty ratings, product write-ups, photography, and the ShelfWorlds name and logo. Manufacturer product images are provided by our suppliers for retail use and remain the property of their respective owners. You may share links to our content; you may not republish it commercially without asking. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners; their use here is for identification only.
9. Third-party links
Our guides sometimes link to other retailers or resources, including some we earn a commission from (those relationships are disclosed where they exist). We're not responsible for third-party sites, their prices, or their policies.
10. Disclaimers
The site and its content are provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the site or violation of these terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ShelfWorlds is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and nothing in this section deprives you of protections you hold under the consumer laws of your state. Before any formal dispute, email us first; almost everything is fixable with one honest conversation and, occasionally, a replacement part.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the store grows. The "last updated" date at the top will change when we do, and continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
15. Contact
