Witchy Gifts They'll Actually Keep (2026)

A lit miniature fortune-teller's parlor glowing green between dark hardcover books on a wooden shelf, beside a beeswax candle, dried lavender, amber apothecary bottles and a fanned tarot deck

Most witchy gift guides are either one shop's stock list or a pile of cauldron mugs that goes back in a box on November 1. This guide sorts gifts for witches by the two things that decide whether a gift stays out: whether the person actually practices, and how much you want to spend. Each section also says when to order.

A disclosure first. I run ShelfWorlds, and we sell three of the picks below, the book nook kits. Everything else comes from other shops and earns me nothing. I haven't used those third-party picks myself, so each one rests on the seller's specs and buyer reviews, and every price was checked on the seller's own site on September 27, 2026, before shipping and tax.

First, Which Kind of Witchy Are They?

Google's own answer to "witchy gifts" ends by asking two questions: is the person a beginner or experienced, and what's your budget? The budget is on you. For the first question, this table is the shortcut.

If They... They're Probably... Safe Gift Ask First
Read tarot, keep an altar, track moon phases A practicing witch A deck they don't own, a book, a subscription box Crystals, herbs, ritual tools
Love the look: dark florals, black cats, apothecary shelves Witchy at heart Shelf decor, a book nook, a candle Nothing. Go ahead
Read witchy fantasy and dark academia The witchy reader A novel, a journal, a bookmark, a book nook Which series they're partway through

Plenty of people fit two rows. When in doubt, shop the middle row: decor works whether or not they practice.

Gifts for Practicing Witches

A Tarot Deck They Don't Own Yet

For someone new to tarot, the Smith-Waite Centennial Tarot is the classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck, first published in 1909 and the one many beginner guides are written around. This edition reproduces Pamela Colman Smith's art in its original muted colors. It's $22.32 at Bookshop.org (list price $23.95).

For an experienced reader, the Fifth Spirit Tarot by Charlie Claire Burgess has 78 hand-lettered cards, a guidebook, and queer-inclusive art that doesn't look like the deck they already own. It's $23.19 on sale at Hay House, down from $28.99.

About the old rule that you shouldn't buy your own deck: it's folklore, and plenty of readers ignore it. Tarot reader Theresa Reed called it "total rubbish" in a 2018 Refinery29 piece. Still, if they believe it, you just became the person who solved it for them.

A Book for the Altar Shelf

Taschen's Witchcraft, from the Library of Esoterica series, is 520 pages and more than 400 artworks, edited by Jessica Hundley with Pam Grossman. At $40 it's the most book for the money on this list, and it looks good closed. For the history reader, Marion Gibson's Witchcraft: A History in Thirteen Trials is $18.63 in paperback at Bookshop.org.

A Subscription Box

Goddess Provisions' Monthly Mindfulness & Magic Box is $55 a month for five to seven items plus ritual guides. Prepaying 12 months costs $528, about $44 a month. It's the gift that turns up again in February, when everything else from December is forgotten.

The Ask-First List

Crystals, loose herbs, and ritual tools like an athame or chalice are personal choices, and practitioners usually pick their own. If you can't ask without spoiling the surprise, a gift card to the shop they already use beats a guess.

Witchy Shelf Decor That Stays Up After October

A lot of witchy decor is really Halloween decor, and it goes back in the attic in November. These pieces stay out. For the full ranking of spooky kits, including the craft-store ones, see our guide to witchy book nooks. All three kits below are in our Halloween book nook kits collection.

Tarot Divination Society: Tarot Decor That Isn't a Deck

$59.99 · 3 · Steady Hands · 6–10 hours · 395 pieces

A fortune-teller's parlor in miniature: a witch at her table with a crystal ball, tarot cards across the floor, and a Wheel of Fate on the wall that actually rotates. Two light sets split the room into warm lamps and a green wash, a color most book nooks never use. At 9.1 inches tall and 4.3 inches wide it fits between hardcovers. Glue and two AAA batteries aren't in the box, and the maker recommends it for ages 14 and up. See the Tarot Divination Society kit.

Plaza de los Muertos: For Someone Who Keeps an Ofrenda

$69.99 · 3 · Steady Hands · 6–10 hours

A CuteBee kit that builds a Día de los Muertos street: a skeleton guitarist, marigolds along the alley, and papel picado strung overhead. The mood is a party, so it suits someone who keeps an ofrenda every year, or a gothic shelf that could use some color. The paper banners are the fiddliest step; plan on tweezers and good light. AA batteries and glue aren't included. See the Plaza de los Muertos kit.

Magic Wand Store: The Wizard Gift

$64.99 · 2 · Weekend Build · 4–7 hours

A crooked little wand shop with tiny wands, jars, and curiosities stacked to the rafters. It's the gentlest build of the three, and reviewers call it "super easy to assemble" and intricate in the same breath. Buyers also mention it arriving in its original sealed box, so it can go under wrapping paper unbuilt. At 6.8 inches tall it's shorter than most hardcovers, which suits a desk or a lower shelf. See the Magic Wand Store kit.

Three Shelf Pieces That Aren't Kits

  • Crescent moon bookends, $38 for a pair at Juniper Books. Plasma-cut 16-gauge steel, 5 × 5.5 inches. They're sold singly at $21, so choose the set of 2.
  • Six embossed apothecary bottles with cork stoppers, $24.99 at MyGift. About 5.25 inches tall. Put a sprig of dried lavender or rosemary in each and they're done.
  • A moon phases print by Pauline Stanley, $24 for 8 × 10 unframed at Rare Bird Co., on archival paper. Framing is extra.

I looked for a stained-glass witch-hat lamp to add here and couldn't find one worth recommending. On Amazon on September 27, the best-rated one sat at 4.1 stars, and several had averages under 2 stars. Read the reviews before you buy one.

For the Witchy Reader

Some people are witchy mostly on the page. Start with a novel: Sangu Mandanna's A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping (Berkley, 2025), a cozy fantasy about a witch who lost most of her magic and now runs her family's inn, is $17.71 in paperback at Bookshop.org.

Then add something to read it with. Peter Pauper Press's Celestial Journal ($14.99) has 160 lined pages, gilded edges, and a gold-foil cover that passes for a grimoire on a shelf. Ragtrader Vintage's Raven Cameo Bookmark is $17 in antiqued brass or silver. And Frostbeard Studio in Minneapolis makes soy candles for readers: Wandering Woods, rosewood and fig with an earthy edge, is $26 for an 8 oz jar.

If they read more than they practice, our gifts for book lovers guide has 50 more ideas.

Witchy Gifts Under $25 (Stocking Stuffers)

Witchy stocking stuffers that aren't plastic:

  • Everyday Witch Tarot Mini, $11.99 at Llewellyn. All 78 cards at about 1.7 × 3 inches. No booklet comes with it, so it suits someone who already reads.
  • The High Priestess enamel tarot pin, $13 at Shining Moon Studio, drawn from the artist's hand-carved stamp print.
  • Witch Blend herbal tea, $20 for a 4 oz tin (about 40 cups) at Mark T. Wendell Tea Co. Hibiscus, blackberry leaf, orange peel, apple, and peppermint, caffeine-free.
  • Moon Phases cross-stitch kit, $20 at Junebug and Darlin. Beginner level, with a 5-inch hoop, black Aida cloth, and DMC floss. All 25 reviews give it five stars.
  • The Celestial Journal and Raven bookmark from the reader section, at $14.99 and $17.

What Not to Buy

  1. White sage bundles, unless you know they want one. White sage is sacred to many Indigenous nations of California and Mexico, and JSTOR Daily reports that most of what's sold in the US was harvested illegally. United Plant Savers lists it as an at-risk plant. A beeswax candle or a rosemary bundle is the easier gift.
  2. Slogan mugs and shirts. Funny for a week, then they live at the back of the cupboard.
  3. A random crystal. Fine as decor, but practicing witches usually choose their own.
  4. Halloween-only decor as a Christmas gift. If it has a pumpkin on it, it spends ten months in a box.

Order-By Dates for 2026

ShelfWorlds kits take 1–2 business days to process, then 7–14 days to arrive from the maker's studio. That means ordering by Monday, November 30 for Christmas. (The Halloween order-by date was Wednesday, October 14.) US shipping is free on orders of $75 and up.

For books, decks, and everything else, go by the delivery estimate at checkout. With a subscription, check when the first box ships before you promise it for Christmas morning. And none of the kits include glue or batteries, so buy those now, not on December 24.

Match the Gift to the Person

Searches for witchy gifts for women far outnumber any other version, but the aesthetic matters more than who's opening it.

Quick Answers

What are some good witchy gifts?

Gifts that stay out after Halloween: a tarot deck they don't own yet, a book like Taschen's Witchcraft, a candle, or shelf decor such as a lit book nook kit. For a practicing witch, a subscription box. For someone who just loves the look, decor is the safe bet.

What do witches like as gifts?

Practicing witches tend to like tarot and oracle decks, books on history and practice, candles, and subscription boxes. Most choose their own crystals, herbs, and ritual tools, so ask first or give a gift card to a shop they already use.

What are some good magic-themed gifts?

A wand shop book nook kit, a witchy novel, a moon-phase print, or a tarot deck with art worth displaying. Pick things that aren't tied to Halloween and they stay out all year.

What items are associated with witches?

Tarot cards, crystal balls, candles, cauldrons, dried herbs, apothecary bottles, black cats, moon phases, and brooms. The Tarot Divination Society kit fits a crystal ball, tarot cards, and a rotating Wheel of Fate into one scene.

Is it bad luck to buy someone a tarot deck?

No. The old superstition actually says your first deck should be a gift. Most readers treat it as folklore and buy their own anyway.

Will a witchy gift arrive before Christmas?

A ShelfWorlds kit ordered by November 30 should. For other shops, go by the delivery estimate at checkout and order handmade items earlier.

Do book nook kits come with glue and batteries?

No. Air shipping rules keep both out of the box. The Tarot kit takes two AAA batteries and the Plaza takes AA, so add them and a bottle of quick-dry tacky glue to the gift.
